Accessing Opportunity
Ulster Country is located in the Southern New York State, spanning from the Catskill Mountains to the Hudson River. The county manages sparse rural communities, suburb towns and the bustling city of kingston. A centralized bus system was introduced to connect country residents that lack car access with good and services.
The county has vast economic gaps between its residents. We looked to explore the potential of seeing these bus routes as providing not only physical mobility but economic mobility.
Does the Ulster County Area Transit bus route connect lower income communities to opportunities for better paying jobs?
We quantify the homes, number of employers and average income provided with employers accessible by bus for a comprehensive look at the opportunities available with todays bus route.
